Ugandan slideshow for Probus

Enjoyed doing a slideshow this morning on "Life and Work in Uganda" for the Probus group meeting at the Castle of Brecon Hotel. Dad used to love going to this. They seemed to find it inspiring and have generously through the paper bead jewellery the Ugandan children had made. All the money raised goes back to the actual schools where the children made them. This will be used to help pay their teachers' salaries, etc.

Goodbye Liz. See you again one day.

Sad to say goodbye to my dear schoolfriend Liz at Brecon Cathedral last week.  Hundreds of people packed into the 700 seater cathedral with a large number standing too - tribute in itself to how many lives she had enriched in her sixty years.  While she leaves so many to mourn her departing, she herself is enjoying a wonderful time with Jesus in her new body.

The cyclamen spreading out from the huge sequoia in the cathedral grounds seemed to portray this vital new life.

FCN at Usk Show

On 10th Sept Ifor and I took our turns on the gate at Usk Show collecting donations for FCN (Farm Community Network). This big show had chosen FCN to be the show charity to support this year. Ifor has been a local volunteer with FCN for many years, including when we were in Pembs. It's a bit like Samaritans for farmers but more than that. The show allowed us to have a stand
It was great entertainment having our stand next to Puppets Aloud! I loved the bear from straw bales by Usk Young Farmers where we used be members in our college days!

If you go Prayer for Breconshire on Facebook, you can see three short videos of the puppets.

Fun with The Good Shepherd

We had fun in our Bible Fun group last week doing the combined stories of Jesus being The Good Shepherd, lying in the gateway of the sheepfold to protect them, then one day counting only 99 sheep (cowrie shells) and going off to look for the lost one... then having a party celebrate finding it. They enjoyed searching high and low to find Sticklebrick sheep hidden in the garden, then making wooly sheep to add to the flock.

Prayer around Brecon Schools

At the beginning of September, before the new term started, three of us walked around the Brecon schools, praying blessing on them and however the Lord led us to pray. He has a real heart the children and their teachers.

Stall at Llyswen Show

Last month I went Llyswen Show, selling paper bead jewellery made by children in Uganda to help finance their schools. The money goes back directly to the two schools we help support there. These shows also bring opportunities for bookings for slideshows in W.I.s, Young Farmers Clubs, Gardening clubs, Probus, schools, etc. which in turn give more opportunities to sell for the children and raise awareness.

New Wine helps Syrian Refugees

At the end of the second week of New Wine England loads of people donated their sleeping bags and tents to go to Calais for Syrian refugees.

Our week at New Wine

Enjoyed the second week at New Wine in Shepton Mallet along with 13,000 others! A similar number came the previous week too.
God was speaking right into our situations and empowering and equipping us to move forward in His Presence and love. He is always spot on!

Wedding

4 August
Ifor was asked to take the wedding of our neighbours at the chapel in our nearest village. It was a privilege to share such a special day with them. I loved the bubbles alongside the confetti!
